Boulineau’s A Great Place to Shop

I have recently shopped at Boulineau’s grocery store which is just a stone’s through away from the resort and found a different type atmosphere opposed to many of the chain stores. It is also the only grocery store that is that close to the beach. I found the staff and management to be extremely friendly and helpful. As far as convenience you can’t beat Boulineau’s.

Boulineau’s has been a favorite of locals and certainly one stop to make when vacationing on the Grand Strand

Frank and Louise Boulineau opened a grocery store in 1948 in the small community of Cherry Grove Beach, which at the time had fewer than 100 houses.

In 1969, Frank Boulineau III and his wife, Elizabeth, converted a portion of an 8,400 square foot discount store into a grocery store and named it Coastal Mart and in 1973, an additional 2,400 square feet was added to the store.

In 1986, a major expansion was undertaken to double the size of the store to 50,000 square feet. The Boulineau’s name was placed on the main store and shopping center was known Coastal Mart Plaza.

In 1998, another expansion was necessary to accommodate the continued support from our dedicated customers. Focusing on customer demand, an additional 30,000 square feet was added to the main store. The store now features 80,000 square feet of shopping on two floors with glass elevators including many specialty departments.

This expansion has resulted in one of the country’s most unique grocery stores, complete with a food court and cafeteria, creating a truly unique shopping complex as well as the area’s most recognizable trademark – Our lighthouse.

The Man in the Mirror

The weekend of June 26th marked the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death.  In honor of the world’s greatest pop star I took my family to see the Palace Theatre’s production of Man in the Mirror. I have lived down here for close to 18 years and have had the opportunity to see just about all the shows. The Palace Theatre always brings fresh new shows like the Le Grand Cirque to the area. We all had a great time; the music and choreography were similar to what you may have seen in Michael’s videos. They played a wide variety of Michael Jackson’s hit songs. If you get a chance this is definitely a must see show during your visit. If you want to purchase tickets we have them available at our front desk.

In the words of Neal Young “The King is gone but he’s not forgotten”.
