Free Things to do in North Myrtle Beach

From lively events to exciting attractions, there are plenty of things to do in the North Myrtle Beach area that can be enjoyed completely free of charge. Music on Main

Spend a night out on the town and enjoy free live entertainment with the Music on Main concert series. Every Thursday from May – September, the city will host a local band to perform an open air concert in the “horse shoe” section of downtown North Myrtle Beach. The music will vary each week, from beach tunes to soulful rock and even a little variety but always family friendly. Enjoy dinner out on the town and then stroll the streets and do some shopping before scoping out a spot along the shore to take in the sounds of summer. Music starts each Thursday at 7pm and wraps up around 9pm.

 

Movies at McLean

Settle in after a long day at the beach and cozy up with the family for a free movie under the stars at McLean Park. Located just a short drive from our resort, McLean Park screens a movie once a month on their grassy lawn that families can enjoy completely free of charge; dates for this event include: June 13th, July 11th, August 8th, September 12th, and October 10th. The movies start 15 minutes after sunset, so the times vary, though the summer movies generally start around 8:30 and the fall movies start earlier. Grab a few chairs and blackest and settle in for a great night with the family.

 

Barefoot Landing

Barefoot Landing is a great place to spend the afternoon or evening when you get your fill of the sun and the sand. Aside from the vast amount of shopping and dining that his outdoor complex offers, they also host SummerFest! all season long that provides plenty of free, family friendly entertainment. Enjoy games, roaming street performers, live entertainment, face painting, and much more! Additionally, there are free fireworks over the lake every Monday and free carousel rides every Saturday. Barefoot also hosts plenty of other free events year round, come see what all the buzz is about!

 

North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex

New to the area, the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex is quickly becoming a favorite among visitors and locals alike. This premier facility boasts several sports fields, expansive green areas, two brand new play ground, event facilities, scenic picnic areas, and more. Come out and enjoy an afternoon picnic and playtime or catch a local sports game. This outdoor complex is also home to the Sounds of Summer Concert Series which takes place from May – September. Once a month, the city will sponsor a local band in the outdoor amphitheatre; dates for this event include May 19th, June 20th, July 18th, August 15th, and September 19th. Just bring a few blankets and chairs and enjoy some quality time together as you unwind after a busy day at the beach!

 

The Beach

Of course, on cannot forget about the beach! After all, this is the main reason you came to Myrtle Beach, right? Tilghman Resort is located right across the street from the white, sandy shores of Cherry Grove beach. Cherry Grove is more of a residential community and our location along the pristine north end of the Grand Strand gives our guests a little more privacy than other areas. Pack a picnic, your favorite book, and a few games and make a day out of it! You can enjoy endless hours of fun in the sun – completely free of charge.

 

Resort Activities

As one of Myrtle Beach’s premier family friendly hotels, Tilghman Resort is proud to offer our guests an array of free on-site activities that are sure to keep you busy and entertained during your stay. Our seasonal Kids Club offers activities like arts & crafts, games, shirt tie dye, and much more. In addition, grab a float for the pool or scope out your spot along the pool deck for our weekly dive in movies every Monday and Thursday night at 8:00pm. Guests can also enjoy a free live mermaid show at our indoor pool facility each Friday at 2:45pm or an exciting fire and hula show put on by our friend Chief Kamu each Wednesday at 9:30pm.
