Now that the seasons are changing, it’s time to kick into a new vacation season here in North Myrtle Beach. Students are taking their fall break, snowbirds are beginning to flock to the South and the locals are preparing for the holidays during this amazing time of year. Whether you’re making your way down to the beach for a weekend or plan to stay here for the entire month, the area is preparing for your arrival with a list of events and activities that set the tone for a season of charity, celebration and continued traditions. Plan big for the month of October and if you’re one of those who loves to come to Myrtle Beach during the off-season, then you’ll be glad to know of the things that are in store for you this season! Bras Across The Water- October 5th
Breast Cancer Awareness “takes their tops off” at Harborgate Marina in North Myrtle Beach! With lots of vendors in the area as well as a BBQ competition and live music performances, this event sparks the reason for why everyone should take part in fundraisers. With a $1.00 bill clipped to over 2,000 bras collected last year, you can count the smiles that appreciated the concern for breast cancer patients everywhere. *Please note: new bras are appreciated as they are donated to local charities.
Oktoberfest – October 12th
Grab a fine ale and a bratwurst and enjoy the festivities of downtown Myrtle Beach! Oktoberfest is one of the biggest celebrations of the fall takes place right on the boulevard. With free concerts all day long a variety of ales and local beers to sample, and the best German vendors in town, this event is always a great way to get out and enjoy the fall weather. And, with plenty of children’s events and activities, you can bring the whole family along!
Little River Shrimp and Jazz Festival – October 12th and 13th
Make your way down to North Myrtle Beach’s little version of a bayou classic. Home of the infamous shrimp and grits cook-off, these two days offer amazing food, great music and plenty of vendors, in addition to festive live entertainment like street performers and local bands. This is an awesome time for you to come and get a taste of the low-country and the beach all in the same stroke!
Loris Bog Off – October 19th
If you’ve never had chicken bog then this is where you want to be for a good helping of a South Carolina delicacy! Just 15 minutes from the beach is Loris, SC and your host for a delicious feast that tantalizes your taste buds for something absolutely classic. Along with the chicken bog cooking contest, enjoy over 200 vendors, a car show and two stages of entertainment for a day of local fun. Be sure to bring the kids along to this fantastic family friendly event!
Endless Summer Festival – October 26th
It might seem to be closing out the series of warm weather we’ve had this year but at least you’ll be able to get a cozy on a nice day of family fun! Pull up with a beach chair and enjoy a classic & antique car show, an abundance of entertainment, street vendors presenting food, art and more. It all happens from 10am to 4pm on Saturday so get ready for a full day of festivities!
Tilghman is open and ready to house all who want to come and hang out on Ocean Boulevard during the month of October. This season is one for the books as this is the time for all those who are looking to come spend time on the beach, no matter if you’re on fall break from school or headed to the time for snowbirds to fly south for the winter soon approaches.
