It's hard to believe that August is here already! School is just a few weeks away but don’t fret – you still have time to squeeze in that last minute vacation! Although many head to the beach during June and July, August is still a great month to enjoy Myrtle Beach. The weather is warm and sunny and the beaches are in prime condition for relaxing. And, of course, there are still tons of fun, family friendly summer events going on along the grand strand! Hot Summer Nights – Ongoing
The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk offers a summer full of family fun with their “Hot Summer Nights” promotion. Visitors can head to the boardwalk any night of the week and find kid friendly entertainment. Mondays are the famous kids carnival that features blow up rides, face painting, caricatures, and more. Wednesdays offer a free fireworks show that lights up the Atlantic while other nights feature free open air concerts and street performers. All of this – in addition to everything else that this newly renovated boardwalk has to offer – combines to make a great night of family fun!
Music on Main – Thursdays
Venture to downtown North Myrtle Beach on Thursday evenings form 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm to enjoy live music on Main Street. Guests are encouraged to come dine or shop downtown and then stick around for live entertainment. The bands vary each week and feature everything from rock to jazz, so grab the family and head to Main Street for clean, family fun!
Craftsman’s summer Classic Arts & Craft Festival – August 2nd – 4th
This year marks the 31st year for this popular event. Held annually at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, the Craftsmen’s Summer Art & Crafts Festival showcases a variety of art, from classic to contemporary and everything in between. Sounds of Summer Concert – August 16th
Head to McLean Park on the third Friday every month between 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm during the summer to enjoy a free open air concert at McLean Park. The Lions Club will have food and drinks for sale and guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to the park to help make the evening more comfortable. Bring the family along for a night full of picnicking, playing, and all around family fun.
SummerFest at Barefoot Landing – Ongoing
This year, Barefoot Landing is celebrating their 25th anniversary, so the Summer Fest is bigger and better than ever! Mondays feature a spectacular fireworks show over the lake at 10:15 pm while Wednesdays feature a walking boardwalk parade at 7:00 pm with music, mascots, live animals, entertainers, and so much more! Barefoot Landing also offers FREE carousel rides every Saturday in addition to weekly street performers, kids karaoke, children’s entertainers, and so much more family friendly fun. There is always something going on here so make sure a trip to Barefoot Landing is on your itinerary!
Movies at McLean Park – Friday, August 9th
The North Myrtle Beach Department of Parks & Recreation hosts family friendly movies at McLean Park the second Friday of each month during the summer. This month, they are screening Here Comes The Boom at 8:30 pm. The movie is free and guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to help enjoy the event.
