It wouldn’t be a trip to the beach without the tempting taste of succulent seafood. Though there are plenty of places along the Grand Strand to indulge in seafood, there are only a handful that know how to do it right. Whether you prefer a heaping plate of fried fish or prefer a more upscale presentation of seared seafood, North Myrtle Beach is home to a handful of places that are sure to hit the spot. Enjoy our roundup of the top spots for seafood and try a few out during your next beach getaway:
Duffy Street Seafood Shack
This local seafood shack has been voted “best at the beach” by the Travel Channel for several years running and is a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. The casual, come as you are atmosphere at Duffy's Seafood and fresh, no-frills approach to seafood make it the perfect place to please even the pickiest eater, making it popular among families and groups. Their menu includes platters piled high with fried favorites, bountiful buckets overflowing with steamed seafood, and a wide array of sandwiches, wraps, and salads that are sure to fill you up. Signature items include their famous Duffy Street Steam Pot and their award winning crab cakes. Call (843) 249-7902 for the location nearest our resort for more information.
Sea Blue Wine Bar
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Sea Blue Wine Bar offers upscale cuisine and an intimate atmosphere to help you kick back and unwind during your stay in North Myrtle Beach. Sea Blue was named one of the “Top 100 Best Restaurants in America” last year by Open Table and is consistently awarded Wine Spectator’s Best “Award of Excellence”. Guests here can be assured that the seafood served is only the absolute best available. Popular chef creations include the Pan Roasted Grouper ala Lobster which features local grouper, butter poached lobster, a homemade lobster ravioli, braised spinach, a house lobster sauce, and a decadent drizzle of white truffle oil. Guests can also indulge in a seasonal six course chef’s tasting menu and pair that with a chef selected wine flight for the ultimate experience. Sea Blue is the ideal place to wine and dine during your stay at the beach. Call (843) 249-8800 for information and reservations.
Flying Fish Public Market
Located within the scenic Barefoot Landing complex, Flying Fish Public Market combines fresh, local seafood with a fun, casual atmosphere that keeps guests coming back time and time again. Order from the fresh fish market and use a simple process to create your own signature dish. Just select your fresh fish filet, choose your favorite preparation (Cajun, grilled, hooked, or signature), and finish with your favorite topping (fresh herb cream, honey lime butter, mange salsa, Asian glaze, or habanero orange chutney) and voila! Fish selections vary but often include grouper, wahoo, dolphin, and flounder, to name a few. Other tempting menu selections include fresh fish tacos, southern fried plates, sandwiches and wraps, and even “build your own” boils. Flying Fish also offers a $6 lunch menu, a discounted Happy Hour menu, and a fresh sushi menu. Call (843) 663-3474 for more information.
Located a little farther south in Myrtle Beach at Market Common, this recent area addition is well worth the drive. In Vietnamese, “co” is the word for “feast”, and that’s exactly what you can expect here. The first thing you will notice about this eatery is the open feel. The restaurant offers an expansive outdoor dining area that provides scenic views of Market Common and the building design incorporates several garage doors that open up to give a true open-air feel. Though the menu features an array of Asian offerings, like dumplings, ceviche, and noodles, the sushi is really what sets Co apart from the rest. Keep it simple and fresh with the nigri or sashimi selections or try one of Co’s signature “pressed” sushi rolls. Popular items include the Rainbow Roll with salmon, tuna, eel, yellowtail, surimi salad, and avocado and the Spicy Tuna Crunch with spicy tuna, cucumber, tempura flakes, and spicy aioli. Co also offers a creative cocktail list and a generous Happy Hour from 4pm – 7pm daily. Call (843) 839-1733 for more information.
