In 1951, local businessmen started the Sun Fun Festival as a way to kick-off the summer season and increase tourism to Myrtle Beach. Sun Fun ran continuously from 1951 – 2011, and returned in 2016. The Oceanfront Merchants Association, in cooperation with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, are hosting the event June 1 – 3, 2018.
